Virtual reality is an artificial environment that is created with software and presented to the user in such a way that the user suspends belief and accepts it as a real environment according to the whatis.techtarget.com.
Even though virtual reality is generally used for entertainment, we can also use this technology for educational purposes. However, let's look at the basics of VR and how it is different from AR (Augmented Reality) first 👇
We can use VR in education such as virtual field trips (exploring different location from different countries), distant learning (attending classes online), special education (helping learners with better and adequate training), recruiting (like simulation of a campus), etc. With the help of VR, students will be more excited than before; encourage creativity; make learning easier; lower the cost of field trips; enable distance education.

In Mercy Career & Technical High School, two local foundations built virtual reality lab with funding and students can make a connection with what they are studying in the lessons easily thanks to VR. You can click here to read more about this.
Even though VR isn't popular in education around the world; in the future with developing technology and when everyone has access, it will be popular. By the way, we tried a few different VR headset in our Instructional Technologies class and it was really good experience in my opinion. You can check out the photos down below 👇
