A Platform for Student Engagement: Seesaw

Seesaw is a learning journal that allows students to publish/ curate their work, connect families to see and inspiration source for teachers. This platform unlocks creative thinking for all students in any subject with a variety of powerful tools (like drawing, voice recording, taking videos, and more!) It is one of the best platform to meaningfully engage students in their learning and works on any device, any set up — 1:1 or shared!

Here, some reasons to use Seesaw:
  • It is so easy to set up. (I will put the website link down below, you can check it out!).
  • digital portfolio and class blog in one place,
  • increase family engagement and communication,
  • allows teachers to monitor and assess the progress,
  • allows students to learn about digital citizenship,
  • it is a safe place, your child's journal is private and secure.

How it works:
Students use intuitive tools to capture and demonstrate learning in a portfolio. Then, teachers get valuable insights into what students understand without extra work. Finally, families see their child’s work and leave comments and encouragement.

In Seesaw you can notified when your children posts something new, receive messages from teacher and privately reply.

If you run out of ideas to do in the class as a teacher, there are thousands of inspirational activities from other teachers around the world! Also, you can categorize by choosing grade level, subject and keyword to find specific activity

Did you know that Seesaw used in over 200,000 classrooms, 1 in 4 schools in the US, and over 100 countries? Also, named Best Website of 2016 by American Association of School Librarians, 2016 Top Pick for Education by Common Sense Media, and featured in by Apple as "Perfect for Every Classroom" for 9 months.

In conclusion, Seesaw sparks meaningful student engagement by combining student portfolios, an activity library for teachers, and family communication. I think this platform/ app is perfect and encourages 21st-century skills such as digital citizenship. As I said before, technology is improving day by day and we shouldn't use ordinary books in our lessons anymore.
